Research activity

My principle interest is turbulent flow in turbomachinery. The numerical tools applied in the research are RANS and LES. In my PhD thesis I am analysing a developed turbulent flow around an infinite airfoil. The Large-Eddy Simulation numerical tool is employed here in order to determine the coherent structure in the near-field and the pressure field, taken as the base source of the noise which is generated by an airfoil as a section of a single blade. In the farfield the flow is determined by using RANS. This hybrid method is referred to in the literature as the zonal RANS/LES method
